About PIPS
Located on Canada’s West Coast at the University of British Columbia (UBC), the Persian, Iranian, and Persianate Studies (PIPS) Initiative is a vibrant academic center dedicated to the exploration and understanding of Persian and Iranian cultures, languages, and histories. As part of the Department of Asian Studies, PIPS is uniquely positioned to advance research, teaching, and community engagement on topics related to the Persianate world.

Our faculty includes experts in Persianate studies who actively contribute to academic and public discourse on issues from cultural heritage preservation to contemporary Iranian society. Through innovative research and dedicated teaching, PIPS faculty and students collaborate to deepen the understanding of Persianate influence across regions and time periods. Our scholars also work closely with cultural organizations and community groups to build connections between academia and the wider public.
Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people, we are a diverse and inclusive community of students, faculty, researchers, and staff. Together, we strive to advance a comprehensive understanding of Persian, Iranian, and Persianate societies and their enduring impact on both local and global scales.

پروژه مطالعات فارسی، ایرانی و حوزه فرهنگ ایرانی ، که در گروه مطالعات آسیایی دانشگاه بریتیش کلمبیا قرار دارد، به ارتقای دانش و درک فرهنگ‌ها، تاریخ‌ها و جوامع فارسی و ایرانی در بسترهای محلی و جهانی اختصاص دارد. هدف ما ترویج پژوهش‌های دانشگاهی، آموزش و تعامل با جامعه است تا غنای میراث فرهنگی ایرانی و تأثیرات آن در مناطق و دوره‌های مختلف را کاوش کنیم.
پیپس با ایجاد پیوند میان پژوهشگران، دانشجویان و جامعه، به دنبال ایجاد بستری پویا برای گفت‌وگو، تبادل فرهنگی و همکاری‌های بین‌رشته‌ای است تا نقش پایدار سنت‌های ایرانی و فارسی را در جهان امروز برجسته سازد.
